With the sikaflex option is it simply a matter of stripping out the
existing packing, waxing the hell out of the board, putting it in the
case, squirt as much goo as you can around the edge and prey it
doesnt stick and is aligned properly?
I will be building a new rudder box fairly soon and it was something I was thinking about today... progrip seems to be the most common solution that ive come across but it must be a b*****d to fit? Edited by Isis |

Might be a bit late, you cant back the case but you are allowed to move the grip plate forwards to hold the daggerboard in place.

I'm fairly sure it's illegal to re-finish a Laser foil. I know it's unlikely to be an issue for most sailors but in theory your boat will be out of class. |

It is legal to repair your foils! You may put tape at the front of the case to prevent damae. If you are a member of the UKLA (which you should be!) you will have a copy of the rues!!!

I didn't say repair I said re-finish (ie to re-paint) which is what Radial179102 said he has done.

If the surface is scratched and you re-paint it that is repairing it!!!

Hey, I didn't write them and I don't even think they're sensible, I'm just reporting what I was told when I repaired a friends dagger board. I would say that painting cannot be considered repairing. After all you could fill scratches with filler and not repaint but I think that fairing is also banned so you couldn't even sand the filler. It's all semantics and nobody really gives a rats but that doesn't make it less interesting or worth debate. |

Unfortunately you were incorrectly informed. You can paint/fill and sand the foils to correct any damage.

If you are building the rudder box, just protect the rudder, wrap the progrip around the rudder and layup the glass/carbon on the outside. The Progrip is then solidly attached to the rudder box. the only problem is that it can be a bit to high friction moving the rudder. I quite fancy trying the same thing but using Jap tape as the liner.

If it doesn't break it's too heavy; if it does it wasn't built right
