Just a little reminder for folks that the deadline for early entry discount for the Derwent Regatta is looming (must be post marked 14th August to qualify which is next Saturday (and in case anyone doesn't know - Saturday post is only collected before 12.30pm these days!)

Yachts & yachting's Event Preview is here: http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=152453

And you can get entry forms and NoR etc here: http://www.drsc.co.uk/page53.html

Look forward to seeing some of you on the water.

I'd love to hear how you get on. How popular a 3 day bank holiday event like this is. I spent my teenage years at "Derwent Week". It was one of the highlights of my year.

Good Luck

Hi Sea Badgers Mum...

Would be great to see you back at Derwent.  Did you used to come when Derwent week was in August or when it moved to May?

For clarity its a 3 day bank holiday weekend but our racing begins on the Friday Evening, so 4 days of racing. (But you can race for just 1 day if you want).

We remain hopeful we'll have a great weekend but there are a lot of people in Spain that weekend!

Calum

I used to sail it when it was in August (1970's). It was the socail side that was great. I get all nostalgic just to think about it.

Won't make it this year but one day when I'm in the area I would love to drop in just to see how the club has changed.

You are more than welcome to pop in any time to see how things have changed.  Club is open Sat & Sunday except from Mid Dec to Mid March (unless you have a snow plough!)

Or on wed afternoons while light allows...

Some of the faces from the 70's are still around.

Live in Surrey these days. Stopped sailing for 20 years but when my daughter (seabadger) decided she wanted a horse (for which she showed no natural ability) talked her into learing to sail instead. I got so fed up of standing around watching that I bought myself a boat as well as one for her. I am still trying to persuade her dad that sailing is much cheaper than horses!! I think he is convinced. But my ambition is to take her to Derwent to see my old stomping ground. One day......
