Volvo V70 - 2.5T (Auto, Straight 5 + Petrol) Full leather interior, heated electric memory seats, and having lots of money spent on it (did a total of 11k miles in 6 years before I bought it!!)

Was going to go for a diesil but as its my daily runabout car as well I don't do the mileage to make diesil pay. Low pressure turbo makes light work of towing, (and embarases the saxocorsaboys at the lights too )

How many of you own boats that are sufficiently heavy that it makes any significant difference what you drag the thing along with?

Ford Connect LBW (just big enough to get Laser spars and 49er sails in length ways).

The 1.8 diesel will tow 2 49ers or RIB will Laser on the roof quite happily Smile

Probably not many, but if you're going to do it you may as well do it with some sort of comfort!

Remember, every car can tow, it may take a bit longer to get to get going, but they all can .. the problem comes from stopping!

My dodgy old astra 1.6 with my "special" modifications... That manages to tow the 18 footer no worries, and for once i completely agree with jim, how many people actually own boats that warrant having a powerful towing car...

Just use my Company car at moment which i picked to slow me down!! (VW Jetta TDI)  its going back end of next month i just need to decide what to get next list so far:

Passat estate

Mondeo estate

Volvo V50

Saab 9-3 sports tourer

Insignia estate

Maybe able to sneak in an A4 or 3 series, but would probably be a sh*t spec.  I don't have to have an estate but they are useful with a big dog, two kids and two day sailing events (i sleep in the car)

I realise this won't help the company, but I'd avoid the Saab given they're on the point of going tits up.

Honda Accord Estate 2.2 diesel. I tow 1 and sometimes 2 Hurricane5.9s so that would be about 650kg all up. I need the estate for all the other stuff i seem to have to carry. Camping gear, daughter's bike, fully battened mainsail etc. I got along fine with the petrol Saab93 i had before but it's a long climb from Dublin to Newry and the diesel is better for the role. Also it has cruise control to maximise progress while staying the right side of Mr Plod and i can sleep in the back with the seats down.
