ye i know the 18 is prob faster upwind and prob a bit smoother ride downwind but the 12 just looks fun. Ur right the Daemon isnt going to be any diffrent beacuse their was 2 cherub that came 1st and 2nd in the 12ft national last year! Edited by Ginger_69 |

12ft skiff- around the same speed as the 18 and only one crew to shout at if it goes wrong!! |

I'm just not convinced and will be very interesting to see the foiling 18 compete against a competitive non-foiling 18, if that ever happens. Saying that though, the Hyrdroptere design is quite large in scale and is very successful, but reckon the foiling 18 needs a whole new rig developed with new sail plan to be successful. It works just now as it is but looks like it could be optimised much further. |

Think if you were to sail the foiling 18 and the normal 18 hard, the normal 18 would be miles ahead. The videos of the foiling skiff look quick but is it that quick for an 18? Plus when the 18 gets going, hardly any of the hull is in the water and you can go for more powerful sails that don't need to be cut to aid the boat when foiling.
