Club Development

Ah, dealing with politicos. No. not quite like that at all, we are locked in on either side with nimbys, some even move in, complain about our planning application for a small extension, then having lost us the application they move out.

So there is a large tract of land between us and the next suburb, about two miles of undeveloped coastline and the last chance for a bit more room next the sea and the council are going to develop it anyway. We're kind of being used along with a leisure centre as a couple of reasons to kick the door in, then there will be about 150 homes built and the road redirected so the properties, hopefully including our new club if our members decide to elect to move, will be next to the sea.

I've managed to locate and contact the Commodore of Worthing SC who has just undergone what we're thinking of and I'm going to pop down and visit him tomorrow ahead of a crunch meeting for us on wednesday, I was just casting around for similar projects and any plans that might have already been drawn up for a modern club next to the sea.

Anyway thanks for the responses, we'll see how it goes. Needless to say the local nimbys are on the march to try and prevent the entire development, they stopped a marina development some years ago that would have been excellent for the area, they are a bloody nuisance, old people waiting to die basically, move down fill up the area, contribute nothing but complaints on tap. Back when I had a half decent sized company attracting staff down here was a nightmare, with nothing to do, nowhere to go, this development could at least cheer up the sea front with a few restaurants, clubs, bars and the like Riviera style.

Offer to teach them sailing in a couple of old Solos? And then offer them a Viking funeral...
