Apparently today is the first day of spring and we should all be casting aside our drysuits and digging out our shorties!  well, maybe not just yet....  But the clocks change soon and evening racing will start, there will be Easter regattas to go to and lots of fun to be had by all (with lashings of gb for grumpf)

So, who is going where?  Is anyone doing anything exciting?

the same, but different...

Youth Worlds in the 49er hopefully to kick off the summer. Potentially the Europeans too :D Though just  going out in 10-15c and sunshine is going to be great too!

wednesday night racing... possibly the best sailing ever?  It's cheeky almost shouldn't be happening; normal folks can't believe we do it after work/school/college and to top it off, nearly everyone actually has a beer/softie afterwards too... why not, we're out already right?

The unexpected nature of getting to go sailing on an evening is just amazing... wherever you are blessed to do it.

Other plans... off to Spain this weekend to get the other boat sorted.  It needs a new outboard sadly, so that's a couple of grand on something really not very exciting in sailing terms.  We've got a Solo open coming up, so I'll do that as it doesn't involve taking a mast down; the FOM of course, can't miss my one and only PY racing of the year (at least it's PY racing with the right attitude though)  All other travelling will be limited to windsurfing, as it's far less grief and aggro than dinghy towing- Easter booked in Cornwall already, National Watersports Festival also in the diary. Big smile

Looking forward to a full season back in the V3k after a couple of years in an L3k (surprisingly different).

Looking forward to lots of lightweight, early-planing.  Will miss, however, seeing the PY-whingers stifle their moans as they remembered that the L3k had a 'real' (in their eyes) PY.

That's a lovely pic you posted 'Nessa. Very evocative and encouraging at a glance, esp when clicked to full-screen. I was about to save it use as a screen background until I looked closely and saw - argh - Solos and Albacores!

Finn sailing, Wadewitz Trophy, Fairhope YC, Mobile Bay, after sailing, swimming in the club pool then drinking Mount Gay rum with coke, ice and a slice of lime on the veranda, watching the pelicans and the sun setting over the bay. Perfect, the flight is booked. Seems a long way away on a wet Wednesday afternoon in Pudsey.

Tuesday evening racing(all of the above counts). Hope to do the Lord Birkett again this year and CVRDA Nats hosted by Nessa and her team. oh and if I can fit it around work I may bring a real classic to the FOM but keep grumpfh away with his matches.

B14 Worlds in Plerin (France) is the highlight for our sailing - if we're brave enough and find a loan boat Tornado the Worlds in Ibiza maybe in sight as well.

Just some sailing will be nice. Lived abroad last year and missed the entire season.

Planning to get out and do loads of the Wed night series. Possibly the best sailing that can be had.

J80 Nationals, Mersea Week, hopefully at least a few days of Cowes Week, IRC East Coast Championships, hopefully Round The Island, bit of Wednesday night and Friday night racing and I think that's everything. I would have been going to the J80 Worlds in Marseille but unfortunately I can't worm my way out of a week of college. Looking forward to it all though, can't wait to get exams out the way and just sail...
