I think you will find that the 12 will measure as an R-Class but not the other way round.... being that the R is 12foot 6inches! The 12's apparently experimented with bow extensions when racing as the R class but I don't really think it took off. I also want to see more pics of this as it looks AWESOME!

Is it this suit of sails with a bit added on the bottom and the top re-cut? or a new set completely? Looks pretty special!

I'd say it is a new suit Tim. Also if you look close the sails are reefable.

Ah i couldn't decide whether they were reefable or just had some extra on the bottom. Doesn't seem like much of a reef though... might be another situation like  the RS600 where people choose not to reef as the sail controls are so good.

It's a new set of Fyfe Sails, with a new c-tech set of spars too.

The boat is longer than an R class, and wider, and has more rag.

The sails are basically a 12 footer no.2 rig, but instead of 1.8m beam of the 12 footer, R Class and Cherub it has a massive beam of 2.8m !

Not really much to do with sail controls. The reason for not reefing a single sail boat is that as long as you can just about hang on upwind then the extra rag downhill means its worth the suffering. If you've got a huge kite so that you are equally overpowered uphill and downhill then reducing sail size will be faster.

This was taken before the wings got a kink just outside the hull to drop them down flatter. it now has mesh tramps between the outer wing bars also. Think of a mini 18...

The boat going around at Stokes is the prototype, quite a lot of ideas on the board still to get the weight down a bit further...
