PJ's looking good there Oli. Nigel Theadom (Rig Magic) set our rig up last time (and has done so again) so I don't really have settings to pass on. I'm interested to know if anybody is changing with the conditions - winding the forestay up a bit for heavy stuff and so on. |

so you should be going like a stoat this year then??? we did last year by the end of burnham week, but then again we did have dave the human loos gage onboard! reckon just a set of base tensions from across the fleet, for say 5-15 knots. will measure ours when i get a chance. |

Hi Guys, We sail with 28 on caps and 24 on lowers until 15 knots and then tighten the forestay by 10mm and increase to 30 & 26. Interested to learn what others do. |

I've set filthys to 25 caps 21 lowers , and don't fiddle with it . Use the backstay a lot for f'stay tension . when I was looking for a boat , I found one with really tight rigging ... and some huge cracks in hull structure around where the log etc go thro hull . Hence the lower numbers poss . Filthy has a few minor stress "lines" in this area and others , I'm watching them .... don't seem to be growing . I'd be surprised if no one else has some "lines"... ? Doug .

Good Point Doug on Big Purple we Slacken them off after a windy one.. IE dont leave the sod wound right up!!! We are however experimenting with a mast heel wedge this year so will effect mast rake compared to your settings. We will have to start applying some sort of new measures with Pink Fizz perhaps?? Peter what do you think?

I cut the bottom of mast at a wee angle and re fitted the foot , mast is now raked well back with the foot just about flat , it may not be important but it makes me feel better ! can't see me wanting to angle mast fwd for any reason in the future so I'm happy . Doug .

Doug, Our mast is raked well back aswell. As Mike has mentioned we to took the mast step off and fitted a small wedge between it and the coachroof - makes the step and foot sit more snug in the same manner you have achieved. We haven't suffered any problems with cracks having high rig tension and as Mike has highlight we drop off after sailing in strong winds. I really do think it pays to adjust settings - it would be good for others to post their settings for wind strengths and we could start to develop a tuning guide for the benefit of the class. Would be interested to know what IRCs people are racing to this year - we sail off 0.966. |

Does anyone have a 2nd hand Asymetric Kite - around 46 sqm. Would pay cash of swop for Hyde 48sqm running kite (still good order) or Hyde Kevlar #1 genoa (still OK ofr club racing)?

the sb3 kite is 46sqm, 2 for sale on sb3 site http://www.lasersb3.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2363 not sure on if the cut would suit the 762 but might be a cheap alternative. also rooster sell a non class sb3 kite here |

Have watched the forum with interest over recent months and on the basis that we still have lots to learn, I am not yet convinced that the higher spinnaker hoist is that advantageous. What I am convinced is that boat handling is key.
I am still putting a crew together and we are still learning the ropes as it were. Although Chic definately has speed on us at the moment, come the end of the season, I am hopeful of closing the gap. In any event, the two of us are never very far apart. I am absolutely loving the 762, and both Chic and myself (I believe) have other boats at PEYC very worried. Cheers Duncan GBR7623 Pink Gin |
