ones dad driving a powerboat almost ran over the woman leading the campaign a year ago maybe he should have ran her over then they wont be trying to get swimming allowed.

she also claims that the only death at Bury lake in the last 20 years was a sailor... well duh swimming has been banned there for that amount of time

however spinni poles make good weapons

or... Villan...

we could let "you know who" loose in the dory

Sorry to say that cyclists don't even stick to the path at Weir Wood. Just look at this ........  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzI7qGh9FQs

We get a few at Weston.  Only had issue once with them as was getting quite close to some fishermen on shore.  Wanted to tack and a swimmer (had been underwater) bobbed up preventing me from tacking away from shore for some distance.  Fishermen couldn't see why I wasn't getting out of there way so were not happy!

Invite them over to the club one afternoon after sailing

Find an old dagger board and buy some soft fruit.

Show them how much damage a dagerboard will do to the fruit; Suggest this is what will happen if they get in the way.

Villan,
Start doing laps of honour in powerboats for the winners of sunday racing. They'll soon clear the water

We get swimmers on the sea, luckily they are only a problem if we are short tacking against the tide up the shore. in this case we shouldnt really be ther any way as there is a swimmers only bit, but there are so few swimmers we can dodge them.
600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

We occasionly get it , half of them do it quite late but the odd few like to do it on saturday mornings which is quite bad as there is a club type thing for people who want to learn to sail. Also again at the lake there is a very strict ban on swimming. We also get the scally types who think its fun to jump one of the jetties and swim accross to the other one which is bad as the majority cant swim and that that you can never see them. I think the council are trying to stop it though. I also think that it shouldnt be allowed though, if people want to go swimming i think there are safer places they could do it. We also have the problem with people who think they can jet-ski on a lake thats no bigger than 50 meters wide which is stupid, especially when the tides in..

I am just wondering if any other lakes have any random outdoor swimmer types who like to frequent their waters?

There are a bunch of Outdoor swimmer peoples who want to swim where I sail, and the council are TOTALLY against it .... but they are protesting away to try and get a 1980's ban revoked.

They want to get a triathlon club involved, as they will use it as a training area.

I dont think they have realised how heavy / fast boats are, and that people swimming are not only very hard to see, but make VERY good moving targets for mark roundings etc. ( Kite up, broad reaching ... How many of you can see through a kite from hiking ( without straining to look under / around it ) )

So, Thoughts? Any else have problems with people swimming on sailing lakes? The lakes you have to PAY to have the privelage of using?

( Oh .. And .... All views expressed in this post are mine only, and represent noone but myself. Some details may be incorrect. If you've got a problem ... Deal with it. )
