It's not bad, a decent boat for lightweight beginners, and an absolute hoot with two 'normal' adults for a quick blast in F6+ but it's also quite cramped for grown ups and only performs 'adequately'. They used to be cheap but there're lots of other boats I'd rather spend £1500 on, just for starters a Solo or Laser if you sail on a lake or an old Blaze if your local spot is open water. The thing with Rotomoulds is they have their place.
But discussing their virtues on here is a bit like posting on a car enthusiasts forum that you've just bought a Kia Picanto. Both have the same basic stuff that the members get excited about but aren't really what the audience are into

The Comet (and its association) predates the other Comet classes by quite some margin. I owned 190 back 20 years ago or so, and had good fun. Much shorter than a Laser, and a tendency to death roll in much breeze (I did, anyway) but a nice little boat. |

Not sure about this, but it appears to be an American boat from the 1930's.

Comet is a nice little singlehander ( I have a half share in Comet 838 with mrs grumpycat ) but it is two faced to sail . In light to mid wind it’s fairly vice free but when the wind gets up the combination of being wide and short and the rounded hull shape means the boat will put you in down wind very easily Especially when it’s got it’s original rig and with rear sheeting .
There is now the option of another rig called the XTRA . This has a slightly shorter mast with a more efficient, slightly smaller sail , this makes the boat a lot easier to sail in strong winds but it is very slightly slower very light winds . You pay your money and take your choice as they sail off the same handicap . Other snippets of info , it has a soft py ( if the sailor is good enough to cope with its down wind behaviour) , it’s build quality is good , they are good value for the money and if you prefer centre sheeting the manufacturer sell conversion kits .

Looking at it and wondering about raising the floor, need to check if it will be legal.
