No, they now use central hoops to steady themselves, as we do in the ? |

a little clip/hook on the harness takes the mainsheet with you through the tack. I spent ages getting this method of tacking sorted then buggered my wrist, never be strong enough now

Most chandlers will sell those plastic clips.
http://www.marinemegastore.com/product-Nab-Shackle-(Pair)--BAI_Y29111000.htm called nabshackles.
I used a different method in the 700 where I had a metal (plastic works too) ring on a 30cm dyneema strop with a bowline tied in the end. Then on my harness I had a 5cm bit of dyneema with a plastic bobble on the end. You can pop the bowline over the bobble and the mainsheet stays with you. If you capsize a sharp tug on the line clears it from the bobble and you can swim away. Much neater than a clip I thought and much safer! I know people who use very heavy duty velcro in a similar way.

You shouldnt need to do anything unusual with the mainsheet providing its long enough you can outstretch with it in your hand as your going out.
I can wire to wire on mine without any mainsheet clips.etc. if i let go of the mainsheet its cleated in and i make sure the sheet is dangling just over the edge of the hull so i can bend my knees and pick it up to sheet in and point higher. Dan |
