Hi Ross

Not sure about 3M?

It is nothing like Velcro but that was the only comparison I could think of, it mates to itself unlike Velcro and is by far stronger, does not fray and the adhesive is fantastic.

It comes in black or Clear colour, I gues clear would be more popular for the Marine industry.

Chris,

How will it take to bonding with gelcoat - gelcoat has no strength in it? So if you put any substancial load on it then will it just pull off the gel coat?

Does it bond with UPVC? Odd question on a boat site, I know, but then I sail odd boats!

Hi All

It's very difficult to give an awnser to each specific question as all applications are very different and I would not like to advise people that the product will do certain things if it will not.

The best thing I can say is I will send out a small sample for you to look at and test for free (while stocks last). Then you are in a position to make your own judgement for each individual application.

Please PM me with your postal address if you would like a sample, I hope you think this is fair!

Will the product bond to a painted surface, with a little bit of preparation with some 400 paper?

If so sound like it could be a very good replacement for my bent water bottle holder and for the crappy velcro on the back of my snacks bag, in the cockpit of my OK.

I design for griffon hovercraft and could use that in our smaller craft to secure things, also the mod craft I am working on at the moment to put all their rubbish around it. Please send me a sample or ur details and I will pass them on to our stores manager

I would think it would stick to the gelcoat fine. Be good for holding things like compasses on maybe. As you say you wouldn't want it load bearing, but then you wouldn't use a velcro type fixture for that anyway would you ?

Hi Rich

I have never worked with gelcoat so I am unable to advise you, but from what your saying I would think you are correct.

I am posting you a sample today and maybe this will help you work out if the product can be of use to you.

Ha no. Just that my compass is in a high impact/load area when my loafers get out of control! I just have visions now of some bloke sticking his Lewmar winch down with this stuff!!
