Aigle Maramu, simply the best!  Great for hiking, trapezing, very suitable over drysuit feet, with wetsuit socks, or also barefeet.  Loads of grip, and extremely stylish   Possibly not ideal for a skiff, but fine in a 505, Fireball etc.  Also they're good for hiking with a reinforced area on the top where the toe strap sits.

I've had them for about 10 years now (on my second pair).  They're even suitable for yacht sailing - foredeck etc.  5 stars!!

Absolutely - especially since Gill stopped making the previous equivalent type of their 'Competition' boots.   They were even better with razer cut soles.  Can't believe they were not selling well enough to continue making them.  Neither are cheap but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Be careful there - I bought a pair from a shop window once and they quickly perished and started cracking - UV damage!

I love the Aigles, they last for ages. My Boras must be 6 years old now.

Also I just picked up a pair of magic skiff boots, seem really well designed and the crew loves them so I had to give them a go

picked up a set of slip on shoes from the local shoe shop for 3.99 good soles stops the stones hurting your feet, good grip with a decent tread, tight but comforable fit, cheap as chips, hard wearing, looks ok,comes in various colour conbinations,

3.99 brought 3 sets haven`t worn out any lasted two years, saw some in a shop 3 weeks ago so they still about.

OK not made by any specialist but with all the points above VERY HARD to fault

No ankle support though, and they don't have reinforcement i on the top, do they? So not great for hiking, but good for trapeze, I'd have thought.

Ok so no ankle support But with padded toe straps do you need the reinforcement on the top.

rooster hiker boots, great grip on the soles & don't have to wear two layers like you do with the Aigles (which I agree are great).... still not much help when you stand on the mainsheet mid-tack though!
Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one
