You must be out on the wire in like 5 knots!

I'm 6ft and 11 stone (all muscle of course ) and find it a blast although getting under the boom is a bastard.  Had it out in a force 5 and still think its the best boat I've ever had, even though it cost a tenth of my B14...

I'm well versed with the KYAG position.  Usually find myself in it with the boat on its side, me still stuck under the bloody boom.

I usually start trapezing in a Force 2 and start swimming in a good 4. At the very beginning, it would take me at least 10 minutes to right the boat, as I can JUST balance its weight. After a few tips from real Contender sailors in our club, I can get the boat upright from a turtle in less than 2 minutes... Forget winning races and competing in Nationals: that's the achievement of the year for me!!

Tim ignore Contenders, it's the height of the boom at the stern (ie scraping the deck!) that's the issue, not the gooseneck.

Mine's at 1m if I remember rightly but I do have that tunnel thing that you don't, and my kicker was stupidly far back.  That will be sorted with my new deep boom but I will lose a bit of room due to the shape.

If you are stuck I have a spare short piece of 800 mast which you can use as a stump.  Mine is unsupported as you know but my foredeck's higher, if you just glued it in as is and put some tube down to the chainplates it will probably be OK.

Cheers
