I can happily prepare a hangman's noose cheaper than a single from stansted to Geneva on easyjet... I'll even charge a fair price rather than a 'bin end' jimmy green special!

I was given the Ashley book of knots for a birthday. Whilst it shows all the knots it is not(no pun intended) the easiest book to learn from. The turks head and monkeys fist are really quite simple but do need a fair bit of time and patience.
I always thought the Ashley book of knots would be my choice for the desert island plus of course lots and lots of line.
On another note with the demise of three strand rope will we also lose the eye splice, long splice and back splice?
When I was showing cows I used to make all the rope halters myself eye splice and back splice.
