This is like hearing an old friends tale of their (extremely) dysfunctional divorce.  One that damages all parties involved, solves very little, pays the lawyers buckets of money and bores the sense and life out of anyone stupid enough to be a 'listening ear' for more than maybe one occasion.    You wish they would just get on with life and just stop trying to continually justify the inevitable case that 'they' were always the entirely innocent party....  and were all along and at every turn.  Dead

Strange, I was racing against 3 Lasers today, and none of them cared less about any of this stuff.

I enjoy reading about the 'Laser' debacle, look forward to latest episode, I chuckled at ILCA shutting the TLC website down, it will make my year if World sailing recognise TLC.
I enjoy reading English common law too, probably why I enjoy this.

Who is the intellectual rights holder of the Laser design? We know LPE own the trademark for the Laser name and sail insignia...

Designer Bruce Kirby sold the design rights to Global Sailing, a New Zealand company, which also owns PSA.

All the current ILCA builders pay royalties to Global Sailing

I thought that never completed and BKI were the ones who took LP to court?

ILCA website, August 25, 2020:-

"In addition to these fees, all builders will continue the ex gratis designer fee of $US50 per hull historically paid to Bruce Kirby Inc. This fee will now be paid to Global Sailing Ltd, which has purchased the assets of Bruce Kirby Inc."

A more recent development then, probably post court case of a couple of years back.
