That is Tim Bartlett's L3. Yep it has and underfloor chute.

The bottom has now been cut off and a Woof hull stuck underneath.

How do you fit a Woof under that? It must be getting on for twice as wide.

I can't see why you'd want to do that to L3?

Also I would have thought that was a kite BIN that slightly extends into the false floor not a shoot as we would know it. It just has a nice lid to keep the water out.

It looks like the drop line comes form the transom. I think that looks like a solid under floor sock, like the i14s. Stu will be able to tell us otherwise thouugh.

Because he prefered the Woof?

I suspect it was that the L3 didn't work out as a 12.

It is an under-floor chute.

It is an underfloor chute.

What Tim found what that it was in the lighter winds it couldn't carry the bigger rigs (not enough volume), and although it was ok with the small rigs, you couldn't push the boat anyway near as hard as the woof. So as an R with resticted sail area it wors ok, but as a 12 it doesn't.

Dan then designed an L4 (which is similar in concept but has more volume).

Top picture is Tim's boat with the woof hull, and bottom picture is an L4.
