Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the phantom has lost 45 points in 4 years. How's that fair.
People called it a bandit for years correct but there is no need to go that far

That marine survey shows a massive swing towards inland sailing... It's not a surprise to see this reflected as such via PY returns too.

I guess those aggrieved really do need to persuade their club's to adjust locally.

I've not really looked but is there plain and simple advice for Clubs to make adjustments in a fair and transparent way?

Let's out the RYA and bring in some monkeys if thats all they do, we can pay them peanuts. There was me thinking the RYA had some influence in their own system.

This is not the case of a "fat kid" being picked on and as mentioned I do not own or sail a Phantom (oh I have a mast ;-)) but a case of sailing a Phantom at many h/c regattas and knowing this will have a detrimental effect on a good class.

The RYA however are allegedly the Governing body of the entire sport, so allowing it to be hijacked by one un representative section, is a big mistake.

It is fair, no-one is doing this. The boats are sailed, they get results, the results are reported to the RYA and provided there are enough results (in the Phantoms case 8416 results in 2013 ) and the PY calculated. Perhaps the issue is that you are just looking for someone to 'blame' when the only people who have influenced the PY are the sailors and the boat itself.......

Firstly looking for someone to blame, if you really think this then your very much mistaken and this is certainly not the case. As I keep saying this does not affect me! It does not matter how many results you have if your collating them from a too smaller niche arena.

I would expect the RYA to have some influence in processing accurate results!

Simon if your sat nav told you to drive down a motorway the wrong way as the data installed was incorrect I hope you would have the common sense to do something about it.

8416 results is now suddenly too small a statistical survey and is a niche..........

You are inferring that there is some bizarre group at the RYA who are manipulating the data because they don't like a particular class.

It's just data that gets processed. Read how it's done, it's all there on the py website

Not a case of it being too smaller a number, you could take 8416 results from a single club its the quality of the data but your missing that part.

I am certainly not inferring there is some "some bizarre group............." lets not make things up please Simon ;-)

But I am saying at certain times the governing body (clue is in the name) should intervene to make and accept some figures do not make sense and do something about it.
