Sure, it makes sense if a number of clubs in a local vicinity, or sharing a common venue, should co-operate to ensure there is minimal conflict with events.

The Broads do seem to have a good thing going, done a little differently to the rest of the world!
The Cotswold Water Park could learn a thing or 2, except we can't sail betwen venues!

All the events on the Norfolk Broads are coordinated by the Norfolk & Suffolk Yachting Assoc. This works and there seem to be very few conflicts, however, if you sail multiple classes you can, on occasions, still get a clash. However, Broads clubs are pretty laid back, so, if you had no sailing at your club on that day, generally, another club, would let you join in!!

For those who sail more than one class or classic events as well as class events there would be everything on one weekend if pondscum had his way.
So he could get another boat in a different class and do both circuits! Or go away to a pay-and-play venue where you can always sail, such as Roadford Lake with onsite camping or Queen Mary or go to another club as a guest or go to the coast....
There's always loads of options - stop whinging!

I would think many tidal venues are more likely to set their calendars around tide tables.
Also have to think of the various dinghy classes and their open meeting calendars.
Many clubs / venues have well established open events which are held at the same time of year.
No I don't think the national body would want to get into those realms.
Different at international level though after all, who would sail a major international Laser/470/Finn/49er championship if it clashed with the Olympics?

Don't be so selfish, get involved and help run the open. There are too many members not helping to run events. We always have the same faces running the events at our club.
Sorry winge over.

Your club gives average points when you aren't there? Seems rather generous. I'll ask for some because I want a lie in next Sunday.
At high level, the RYA and ISAF do have the season sorted, but with so many classes at "Club" level I'm not sure how the RYA could possibly make sure there was an open meeting for each class sailed at a club to go to when the water is closed for an open. Better bet would be to lobby the club (or join the committee) and put the point that club racing can co-exist with all but the largest of Open Meetings, and can in fact enhance the visitors' experience as the club is a lively place, not an empty building. Average points could be given for those helping run the open...
