My concern was that people might assume they are the RRS numbers.  No numbers at all would work for me.

Thanks for all these guys, I've printed that Allen one off here in the office going to take it down the club tonight trying to see if it'll fit in the laminator, it's A3, one thing would be useful would be a legend alongside it, of rules to rule numbers in similar format to post alongside it, did they do that?

Very nice, I like the diagrams. One point that I think has been made already is that it would be useful to link the simple rules to the actual rules, in so far as is possible without making things too complicated. Even if you just put the numbers of the relevant ISAF rules in brackets? Presumably there is a hope that at least some will not simply master the simple rules, but may then progress to trying to understand the full rule set - it would be good to make it clear from the start what these are based on to make a transition easier.

I've reworked the summary with some new pics - see

There are a couple of Don becker's rules I haven't yet figured out sketches for though, and the format still needs work.

How about this as a concept? Red or Green dot in normal crew position for port or starboard (should they have embedded P and S?) and black X or yellow tick for ROW or give way?

At least they won't get elecrocuted like with the old wiring system!

Blue and yellow seems to be quite common on the "who is in the right" drawings Gordon and others have posted on here. Works for me.

Green and red - or brown and brown for the colour blind!

If your public is consists of beginners however, green and red works really well (traffic lights). I noticed that with children especially. Additional symbols tend to clutter up the visual information.
