I am just returning to dinghy racing and was wondering if there is a list of winter races out there somewhere. I have the dates for the Hoo Freezer, but was wondering if some of the old races are still run, Brass Monkey etc. I need dates due to working abroad (need to make sure I am home!!)
Cheers in advance!

The more popular ones run under the SailJuice series, but do take a look at local club websites to see if they're doing an open races.  I know Royal Harwich YC used to run an open day race on Boxing Day, not sure if it still does...

You can strike the Hoo Freezer off your list; apparently it's been cancelled as the new owners of the Hoo marina (where visiting boats are based for the event) have decided to be @r53holes

The RHYC clubhouse is currently being rebuilt, but I believe the Boxing Day race is still being held as usual and HW is only 20 minutes before the start this year!

I'm looking at doing the Snowflake series at Chichester Yacht Club, did a few some years ago, great fun, two short races a day and dozens of boats on the water.
That just leaves the low tide weekends to fill...

I have booked the travelodge for the Brass Monkey.  I am also listed for the GGP.  What happened to the Pompey Perisher?  I used to like that one, though launching and parking were a PITA.
the same, but different...

Portsmouth City Council is, I believe, what 'happened' to the perisher, but I could well be wrong... usually am!

Shame, t'was a good event with the added bonus of ferry and hovercraft dodging and bemused spectators on the front there

The Perisher suffered from too many cancellations and the host club drifting away from dinghy racing. When it started (a very long time ago) there was very little racing in the winter, on the sea. It was a fun event serving the locals. By the end, there were several winter series in a ten mile radius and the competitors were mostly coming a long way. Some of them, being inland sailors, thought the club were too willing to cancel at the top end of a F5, despite a lot of people not being able to cope with the sea state.
There has been talk of resuscitating it, but not this winter.
