Or a Wanderer?

Firefly isn't that stable for young people, i used to have one and it was very tippy! Possibly as well an old rondar 420 would do the job, they're stable (virtually impossible to capsize) you can pick them up pretty cheap as well!

Thanks for your replys what you have said has put me off the Vago.  What are your thoughts of the RS Vareo or possibly the Topper Vibe or Magno ?

The Vibe is basically a little Xenon, they look good boats they have a small sail area so probably manageable compared to the Vago, the Vareo is another good choice if your mainly sailing by yourself and is also good if someone wants to go for a ride and finally the Magno is an OK boat but it wouldn't be top of my list!

How heavy are you and crew Kintore?  also... will you be sailing mainly single handed or with crew...Maybe a 2 hander occasionally single handed (Laser 2 Regatta good for that) or a single hander occasionally with a passenger??

RS vareo is a single hander, RS 500 has same dimensions, is a 2 person boat and is also manageable as a single hander. Compared to vago much better boat, when using only main, it's still easy to bear away (with vago this is indeed difficult). I suggest you try the RS 500 at LDC as it feels more responsive then a laser 2000. I own a RS 500, so I'm a bit biased

Rotomould vs Polyester...

Roto (ie Vago) = heavy but durable - Flexing might be a problem

Poly = Light, easily repaired & stiff

Think about it when making the choice
