Maybe a laser 2000? Fairly big and sounds ideal to me. You can reef it, race it, cruise and muck about in it. Has a spinny but not sure about a trap.

NS14 sails equally well singlehanded or two up. It has very small sails, no spinnaker and no trapeze, so is ideal if your crew is inexperienced. It is also about 5 stone lighter than a Vago and is purpose designed for husband/wife, father/daughter combo's. It is roughly the same speed as a Fireball, so quick for its type, but not rocket fast - quicker tha the Vago though. PM me if your interested. |

If you want slow prehaps a Miracle. But for what you may want the Vago may well be the best choice. I have no experience with them personally but there is one at the club thats always beaten by my 420 apart from downwind!

I guess key questions include where do you sail, how fast do you want to go, do you intend to race, how seriously do you intend to race...

I've sailed the Vago quite a bit and I've got mixed views on it. It can be quite entertaining in a blow, but I don't feel it lives up to the marketing (suprise, suprise). I've always used the jib when singlehanded as I've had issues bearing away after a tack without. I've not seen many people manage to single hand on the wire - mostly it ends up with a broken tiller extension! I also know of a couple of issues with the rudder - the bolts on the pintle seem to have an issue with shearing.

Here on the forum, you might not get the most unbiased views about the Vago. But to me it tries to be everything anyone would want in a boat. Family sailing, trapeze racer for 2 or singlehanded trapeze boat with spinnaker.
