That's good to know. Is that based on experience of the 'R's?

Two points of reference really.

First being my days in single-wire Cherubs (because you were locked-in to th back of the boat, you could push), and 2nd being my experience in B14s. Much the same here, but in the B you backed-off for fear of the boat exploding.

With a nice stiff hull, and the rig in column with lots of tension, I think it'll be a hoot.

Are there any drawings/cad images of the new P8 design cherub? I would be keen to have a look.

a drawing of the P8
similar to the new style cherubs, ie wedgie shaped, straightup topsides, but with more rocker, which goes with the flatter sections at the front.
The stem profile needs tweaking ( probably easier to do when building the mould than fiddling in the program) - a bit of hollow in the topsides of the first few stations, to give the required vertical stem.

Looking at the hull shape I can't help thinking that if we put an enormous rig on that and the foils well aft we would end up with a .........Star!

[only jesting - but the lines are so similar between the ancient and advanced]

Yep, launched at 0600 from hamble point, sailed through the start at 0715. Finished at 1830, got back ashore at 1930. twas a long day but 11.5h wasn't bad going given how light it went at times and the amount of upwind work, beat a lot of bigger boats, and Leopard (with my buddy, host for the night and designer of sails on both boats aboard) took about 7.5h. Being in a dinghy was the money cheating the tide at Ryde and before that in the clusterf*ck when the wind shut off at bembridge. Needless to say I slept well last night.

That is some achievement. Were any other dinghies doing the same?
