ahhhhh .... close the hatch eh ?  now why didn't we think of trying that ?

does the water not rush under and over  the lip still though ?

Spoken to my sailmaker , do we have a problem gybing with an assy ? He thinks there may be one ?

anyone got sizes of their assy , if I could take a peek please ?

Just had one of my crew drop out for cowes week ....   crew ! who would have them !

Thanks ,

Doug .

Actually we seem to have a pretty good fit in front of the hatch and don't get
too much water in.

Gybing with an asy isn't easy - you need to use a snout line - so we use the
symmetric when we're going to be gybing.

As for size, our sailmaker measured our symmetric and made it exactly the
same size

I've already sent pictures to Doug, but I thought that I'd post this picture of our pole downhaul/ foreguy arrangement here as well. I suspect that Nigel may have had two tails going back to the cockpit, we have tied off one end to the spare eye. There should of course be a pole in between the two snap shackes!

On a reach with the pole fully forward it is rock-solid.

Thanks for posting that chic, it's exactly what we need on Upstart with our new asy.

One of the crew had a waterproof camera onboard for PoFR and got a few shots before the start - have put the pics on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/teamnimrod/

Wehave our downhaul fixed to a pad eye on the foredeck, pole is stored on the boom so need to release down haul befor stowing, kite halyard is on mast with a spinlock cleat, keeps the cock pit clear ,kite is kept in turtle bag and launched from the hatch.

Is this the same set up as every one elce?

Right then - Burnham Week

Proper Job has entered and so has Upstart for Class 4.

Anybody else? Would be great to get a decent fleet together.
