the jib was all the way out. i would have put the spinni up but i feared for my life. would it really made that much of a diffrence. my crew only learnt to sail this year so i thourght better of the spinni

ye the kite will lift the bow quite alot, it will also keep the boat better balenced

IMHO the boat might be more stable with it up but the problem with popping the kite is usually the popping bit and de-popping bit as it's a lot more unstable with the crew dicking about trying to clip the pole on!

I agree. If you can get the kite up it should always go up. Things are always so much easier once its set... It is just the getting it up and back down thats the dodgy bit. I guess when it gets to the point that you dont think you can get it up (so to speak) you know that you have reached your limit! Ian |

Just one problem...they are attached to the tiller....Crews are mobile (believe me we have provied plenty of spectator sport). The best way to get your helm back on a trap boat is to gebtly trails your aft foot....nice jet of water right in to the helms face (tried and tested on a Fireball). Paul |

Luckily my helm is either:
1) Not quick enough or 2) It's so damn windy if he loses control for a second we both swim... Although he got close once, I ended up doing a 360 pirouette on the end of the wire to much applause from the clubhouse. Paul |
