Point taken about knackered old Land rover however I fear that no amount of car wizardry even by one as talented as the major, car mending guru of the highest order as he is I think even he would have been challenged by a burny wurnyed cylinder head and nothing but hubba bubba for a new head gasket.....or maybe I'm not giving credit here as the major has certainly saved my bacon in the past (with the same knackered landrover)  thanks Major  I'm ging to start by filling my screen wash!
go on you know it makes sense

On behalf of the long suffering shareholders of the AA AND the RAC could I suggest a course at your local adult education centre on how to maintain knackered old Range Rovers

right enough Scottish winter can be daunting , but theres malt whisky as prizes in winter series ,starts jan sometime , not that i'll get sailing , still got last years grass to cut !

could give you a short b and s, I know I not as good looking as misses T , but i'm handy with a clipper , could get your cuttings knitted into a nice hat for yur ice yattin ,

If ice yattin too fasst you could take up other trad scottish sport -- curling , but I think thats played by big scottish wummin with hairy legs that shout a lot .

Its TV for you and block hole of the tinternett if yur no carefull

Still you've allways got drinking yurself into a stupid for next 4 months .

ps we built sand castles but big boys stamped on them .

Some excellent suggestions here thanks very much

firstly about our very own club sailing our frosties finish in 2 weeks then after Christmas at  some point I can't remember but am sure to be reminded another Winter series starts on sundays and weather permitting I'll get the A out however the West of Scotland weather is rarely conducive at this time of year and I fear broken bits once more getting in the way of next season proper.

R.C. cats didn't know we had such things I'll have a look however the incident my esteemed coleague catmando was referring to earlier was my one and only foray into R.C. laser sailing at the Scottish in Tarbert, By the time i had managed the art of depth perception-laser to windward mark-I had also mastered the art of helming and holding a tinny of cider at the same time which seriously impaired the former and culminated in me being crap, the saturday night activities then meant I was not able to be vertical on sunday and this brought about the end of my R.C. laser experience.

The ice skate idea however excites me these Ice yotties get up to a fair lick as a kid we built sand yachts on the beaches of Troon I'm thinking ice yachts on Lochwhinnoch this year.

Might be an idea to join BUPA first though I've seen them wipe out

Oh and thanks Major a barber is definetly on the cards I meant to ask Sue T at grafham but somethig got in the way... the wheatsh........something or other.

go on you know it makes sense

There are radio controlled cat classes which might be of more interest than RC Lasers? And when the lake freezes over, strap skates to the bottom of the A Class - don't forget the GPS to tell us how fast you went!

Have you thought about spending the time trying to locate a barbers shop?

Where do you sail where the Frostbite ends before the frosts start? We keep going all year round with a series of pursuit races on Boxing day! Of course it's always bloody freezing here so we don't notice the winter but our Summer season runs from May to September and our Icebreaker from October to March (with a two week ski break in Jan for those who haven't just bought a new spinnaker). We actually get higher turn outs in the winter as a lot of boats from other clubs who don't do winter sailing come along as guests.
