Subject: WHAT NOW ?
Date Posted: 09 Nov 06 at 8:40pm

Wednesday night racing came to a dusky end quite some time ago and with only two weekends left of our frostbite series to go before the Winter break , I ask you

WOT NOW MY MULTIHULLED AMIGOS ??

I am already beginning to dread a long winter of discontent what with decorating and garden maintenance looming large on the horizon, there's only so long I can keep myself occupied playing with scammers pretending to buy my old boat (hurricane for sale), or even me scamming the other half that my carbon A really does need sanded and varnished, I refuse to have an R.C. laser and there's no other racing around, There's no snow yet and it's dark by 5:30. I don't really want to be lost in the internet or sat glued to the idiot box so  help

Any other sensible(ish) and any legal(ish) suggestions would be much appreciated.

Already looking to the new season

Redhotchilicat.

Thanks James sounds interesting if a bit wet unfortunately no garage and I wouldn't be too popular with that in the front room. However boat building a fantastic distraction me thinks I'll start drawing ...something saucy!

Thanks for that I'd love to come to the F18 worlds however I couldn't afford Aruba this year come to think of it I couldn't afford Grafham either don't know what to mortgage off first, my house, wife or spare kidney come to think of it I may have to swap my spare kidney for a new liver if I can't find a more constructive past time for the slow (cold, wet and gale force wind) season.

Anyway having seen pictures of those ferocious drop bears I'm a bit weary of Oz

Whit aboot the Winter series at your very own club ,

or I could strap two rc lasers together to make a cat 4 you , but you have to be able to stand before you can sail em , praps the down fall of yur rc sailing , but tarberts like that .

Bit warey of Oz myself , kept slappin the back of my head when not looking !!!,

Ps heard if you crioss a kidney with the dna from an abasinnian newt , you can grow a new liver  !!!!, not tried it myself , let me know before I have too !

Where do you sail where the Frostbite ends before the frosts start? We keep going all year round with a series of pursuit races on Boxing day! Of course it's always bloody freezing here so we don't notice the winter but our Summer season runs from May to September and our Icebreaker from October to March (with a two week ski break in Jan for those who haven't just bought a new spinnaker). We actually get higher turn outs in the winter as a lot of boats from other clubs who don't do winter sailing come along as guests.

Have you thought about spending the time trying to locate a barbers shop?

There are radio controlled cat classes which might be of more interest than RC Lasers? And when the lake freezes over, strap skates to the bottom of the A Class - don't forget the GPS to tell us how fast you went!

Some excellent suggestions here thanks very much

firstly about our very own club sailing our frosties finish in 2 weeks then after Christmas at  some point I can't remember but am sure to be reminded another Winter series starts on sundays and weather permitting I'll get the A out however the West of Scotland weather is rarely conducive at this time of year and I fear broken bits once more getting in the way of next season proper.

R.C. cats didn't know we had such things I'll have a look however the incident my esteemed coleague catmando was referring to earlier was my one and only foray into R.C. laser sailing at the Scottish in Tarbert, By the time i had managed the art of depth perception-laser to windward mark-I had also mastered the art of helming and holding a tinny of cider at the same time which seriously impaired the former and culminated in me being crap, the saturday night activities then meant I was not able to be vertical on sunday and this brought about the end of my R.C. laser experience.

The ice skate idea however excites me these Ice yotties get up to a fair lick as a kid we built sand yachts on the beaches of Troon I'm thinking ice yachts on Lochwhinnoch this year.

Might be an idea to join BUPA first though I've seen them wipe out

Oh and thanks Major a barber is definetly on the cards I meant to ask Sue T at grafham but somethig got in the way... the wheatsh........something or other.

right enough Scottish winter can be daunting , but theres malt whisky as prizes in winter series ,starts jan sometime , not that i'll get sailing , still got last years grass to cut !

could give you a short b and s, I know I not as good looking as misses T , but i'm handy with a clipper , could get your cuttings knitted into a nice hat for yur ice yattin ,

If ice yattin too fasst you could take up other trad scottish sport -- curling , but I think thats played by big scottish wummin with hairy legs that shout a lot .

Its TV for you and block hole of the tinternett if yur no carefull

Still you've allways got drinking yurself into a stupid for next 4 months .

ps we built sand castles but big boys stamped on them .

Point taken about knackered old Land rover however I fear that no amount of car wizardry even by one as talented as the major, car mending guru of the highest order as he is I think even he would have been challenged by a burny wurnyed cylinder head and nothing but hubba bubba for a new head gasket.....or maybe I'm not giving credit here as the major has certainly saved my bacon in the past (with the same knackered landrover)  thanks Major  I'm ging to start by filling my screen wash!

Yep sums it up! Was it the Minnis open in April when I told you your “P” gasket was leaking and would cause head gasket failure leading to complete head destruction if driven and overheated?

By god you're good major I don't know how you do it Your talents with faulty stuff are unrivalled

Fancy taking a look at the missus for me

there seems to be a major cash haemmorage coupled with a lack of motivated domestic engineering culminating in warm beer and tinned food consumed from a dusty table, wearing clothes with the appearance of being ironed with a balloon while balanced on a pogo stick. I am unsure of yet but have an inkling it has something to do with over indulgence in scuba divingIntroducing her to that was not my brightest idea.

Thoughts / solutions please Major

Having been inflicted with the diving bug myself, unfortunately I am unable to give much useful advice except that I’ll give you a couple of hundred quid for her kit if you can nick it whilst she is sleeping!

This really sounds like one for a specialist in matrimonial conflict to sort out, may I suggest contacting the worlds leading problem-solving guru Bigwavedave  at

There you will find testimonials from his many satisfied clients , if he cant sort it out then I feel that you are well and truly stuffed old boy and you had better get used to doing your own ironing and eating at the local curry house!

OOOOOER Playing on the T at spagetty bay would definetly help can't commit to a whole series now as I'm building a six foot skiff, finding a barber, building an ice yacht, taking a course in automechanincs and trying to remove wifes boot from arse from comments a few posts ago, however as I am now barred from B&Q (not Ellen's one) I can't do DIY so pencil me in for a hurl roon the course-I'll give you a buzz later

Thanks dave
