Gambling on IOC decisions, or even ISAF ones, would be a very risky business...

I wonder, is that actually true? Has anyone defined a standard course length and measured it? Substitute the V3000 for the Osprey in the blow. A course with a mile beat then run the comparison, that would be very interesting, has it occurred? Have I missed something more scientific about the PY than I realise? Edited by G.R.F. |

GRF - no need to do any science. Much as I like the Osprey, even in F6 it would never acheive the speeds that a 49er will reach in F4. In F6 I would imagine the 49er to be a major handful, but I would have thought that was mainly down to the size of the rig making it bloody difficult to reduce drag to a sensible level. A smaller rig for windy conditions would maybe solve the problem.but I'm just guessing. My choice goes to something I can just rig and go sailing, whatever the conditions.

I have no data to back that up ... would be easiest to prove using polars off GPS data a bit like these ... http://www.mustoskiff.com/reports-and-news/2007/replays.htm

I think we may have to wait as long as February or even May to know about the 11th Medal.
