	Folks Obviously still learning boat and improving all the time. We still have been sailing the tricky 8 - 12 knot wind speeds (albeit perfect sailing in decent weather) up on the Mersey. Whilst I wouldnt dream of altering the boat to suit winter club racing am definatly interested in bigger Kite. Its becoming very frustrating in that we seem to be with bigger boats all the way up and downwind and then they blow us out in one leg. Obviously Prima 38's, J122 are out of sight (and should be) on the water. We are now keeping pace on J92, half tonner (flying machine ), sig 38's, and even quite near Bene 34.7 and J109's. As soon as we get a reach/fetch as inevitably we do on the River we get hammered (not by 38's J92 and half). I Know waterline length on the bigger boys etc but cant help but think that a 46 or 50m2 kite or/and asy would help/ How much diffrence have those with such whompers found it? As I have said the P762 is fantastic but at the minute frustrating, I know theres always lots to improve on, but I have yet to really experience the planing advantages that the handicap seems to so harshly punish us on. I have sailed many other boats to the same standard. Know for a fact if my crew were on a X332 and sailing to the standard we are now we would be right in the choclates!!! Also looking at (and being an ex sailor of Chia CHia) half tonner, wouldnt mind a 25 year age allowance on 762. Perhaps we should mothball a few!!! Help. Success stories please!

	Firstly, Garth - I got the chance to measure that kite for you: Luff: 9.5m Leech: 8.65m Foot: 5.64m I didn't think there was much point in doing girth measurements since Nigel has confirmed it at 42m sq and you are looking at 46, however it should give you a starting point. I wondered if an SB3 kite wouldn't be similar in size?? Maybe this is published on their class website. Secondly, F-Word - be patient! you're sailing in conditions that as you say are difficult. When the breeze gets up the P762 turns into a beast, and you're going to have a lot of fun waving larger boats goodbye. I'm sure that a bigger kite would help you, but you won't need that in anything over 20 knots. If you go back over the forum there are plenty of success stories. Not exactly a success but we are currently fighting a policy to force us to sail in a 'sportsboat' class for regattas, the P762 is hated so much by bigger boats' owners. Good luck!

	Chic - many thanks for the measurements, much appreciated. The SB3 Asy is certainly the right size for us at 46sqm, but I wonder whether it would flat enough for tight reaching. FWord - we have experienced the same, unless you get decent windward/leeward legs the larger boats waterline length can be a killer. That said we have done OK this year in Helford against J92s, J109, Corby 29 & Half Tonners. Pink Fizz (Falmouth) is the top IRC boat, regularly beating Per Elisa (2nd to Harmony in 2007 Half Ton Cup), Corby 25/26, J92 & X99. I reckon 48sqm kite with 140% genoa produces pretty good IRC numbers and we have raised the hoist by 650mm to try and gain additional benefit. Keep at it.

	The sb3 kite might be a good option but would be hopeless as you intend to use it for tight reaching.. The kite is designed to do windward leewards in a far lighter hull. It would be far too full for a blast reacher.

	Well that's true, but if you're looking for a 2nd hand asymetric there may not be many options... J80 reacher maybe? Given that it's flown on a sprit it's probably too long in the luff. I really can't think of any other boat's kite that may be suitable.

	There are certainly plenty of 2nd hand SB3 kites around. Cork 1720 fractional might be an alternative, but probably few around ?

	There's a similar problem with the Cork's fractional kite... Similar sized boat but the Cork flies its kite from a sprit; the P762 from above the pulpit, so my guess is that the luff will be too long.

	All Sorry to change subject. Lifted boat out on Weds last week. As she was travelling in hoist I noticed some slight keel movement. Does anyone have any info on the earlier keel design?? I understand the top plate and bolts have been built first and the lead cast over the whole assembly. To my knowledge this is not impact/drying out. Keel bolts were tight and visually checked since I bought her. Any info would be really appreciated, particularly keel drawings. You can contact me direct on andy@bluepointconstruction.co.uk
