Dunno, a lot of Canoe sailors tack and gybe at least partly under the boom. I don't know at what point closing the gap starts making a serious aerodynamic diference, might be its just a couple of inches, in ehich case you'll never reach it but stopping the sail off in mid air its such an aerodynamic nonsense... and of course more luff length is always welcome.

Just to clarify.... I'm not flaming the boat. It looks very nice, just a comment that's all. Hopefully helpful. Most people go for mobility these days on a trap boat. The Contender gets away with the low boom because it's reasonably stable, I'm just not sure that a trainer Musto Skiff should be compromising crew mobility for a smigen of extra performance. But this is all from a very long distance and it depends on a whole heap of other stuff.

My point was that a number of things change in the development process and I'm sure the same process will happen again ...

I am sure a more interesting question would be how many parents would buy one of thise for their kids ... would they worry about their child trapezing solo?

Above 16 I think I'd be OK with that. 14 > 15 concerned and I think I'd want to be in a rib near by. Below that, I don't think so. But it does depend on the child. Also another reason for a higher boom than current. Kind of my point really.

im 16 and my parents are only just allowing to trapeze due to seeing report of people dieing due to getting caught in a trapeze. I'm looking at buying a rs600 or contender but buying a new boat to try something new isn't a option especialy in the current markets were selling could be difficult.

Seriously?! They let you get in there car on a daily basis though, I bet.

If I'm reading that correctly, then just try before you buy!
