Crumbs, mines only 5.5m, and my boats 0.6m longer!

Looks great Daryl, more pics please!

The L3 was too narrow and too twitchy and didn't carry the big rigs and weight well.

The L4 has a wider waterline beam, has chines (albeit quite subtle ones), and is designed as a 12 that can be sailed as an R (whereas the L3 was an R that could be sailed as a 12). so it's also deeper and has kite bins.

Interestingly, Tim Bartlett has now cut his L3 up into foot square pieces, and has put a woof hull under it instead. Says it all really.

Here's a CAD image of it with decks & tanks in.

I went to have a look here

and it says the L3 is to be hydrofoiled. That's going to be fun, and you know it's going to be done well. Just look at the detailed / clean way they build these rockets...

Here's the L4 mould. Compare it with the L3 one above, and the difference in beam is pretty clear.

Nice to know narrower isn't always better, for those of us with balance problems!

The L3 mould looks rather like a plastic pond liner, don't you think? At least it will live on...

Spotted toady at Rutland - I will give you a clue to what it is. It was designed and built by the German builder of my Contender. This is the prototype for a new class. He hopes to rig it today and sail it tomorrow, more pics then...
