Sorry got carried away would be nice though

yer i would love to get a 49er but as a "youth" i dont have to funds to fork out £6000 on a half decent one and then in the near future i can see more things breacking so u have to be in a fully paid job or sponsered to even consider a 49er.

but they do need a youth class that is for all the "youths" out there cos me and my helm are to large for a 29er for we have to go to an adult class to race and miss out on all the training, racing etc. it is nice to beat adults but there is nothing like abit of banter with people your own age.

We have a old 49er in dubai and we have had a fair amount of use out of it and breakages including ripping a wing off the tracks somehow and breaking the kite pole but with a bit of carbon resin and fibreglass all those were fixed very cheaply.

Fair enough we arnt racing so i get where your coming from. Im going to try and get into 49er sailing at uni but agian need to try and find some funds if not i need a light crew for an 800

Go Big or Go home or sail a 49er!!!

I've got a 4000, there are a few things I'd like to see different.
  • The kite cut deeper
  • Allow adjustable splices (for the main sheet strop and trapeze wires)

ye well since we hadnt sailed in a while and it was picking up from 15knots we only went over 4 times. Not bad really since the last time we went over was trying to hold the kite into the harbour. Oh well next time maybe we will succeed.

well i guess you never met cameron davies with the rs 800 who left about 8 months ago i used to sail with him. Where did i mention F20???? Please show me i think you mistook it for F18 and since my dad owns a cirrus whcih i crewed for the last year and a half ye ive sailed F18s and did win the natioanls which had a fleet of more than 4 boats unlike the double handers.

Back on topic i do think a 2 man international canoe could be very interesting. never seen one in the flesh so not sure about the deck layout but maybe anothe seat next to the orginal going up to a 17m main and 25m kite could be huge amounts of fun if you could find 2 good enough canoe sailors to work together.
