A reinforced mast?? why?? Hobie 16s added a kite quite successfully without any reinforcement of the mast. And seeming as the addition of the of increased apparent wind would mean the main would be much closer in and thus acting as a backstay for the mast which would oppose the forward pulling forces of the kite on the mast quite nicely. Plus the fact that cat masts are hardly flimsy! Again, reinforcement........why?? Edited by Doug.H |

spi are easy enough to add onto a cat but u may need a reenforced mast!

I recommend you go to www.catsailor.com , look at the Formula 14 forum. Some of the US guys have 'F14'd their Hobie 14s quite successfully. If you tweak the boat with a new main, jib and spin that measure to F14, you'd be at the max for the H14 platform |
