it is somehting I have thought about and there is alot of experience here with bringing in boats from OZ - it goes along the lines of shipping, tax, more tax, oh and more tax too...plus the exchange rate with Oz has moved 30% in the wrong direction in the last 18 months!

can you not convince a builder that it will be the first of many cherubs? That if he can produce a very nice yet low cost hull he will have many more potential customers banging on his (or her) door in the near future when they see it on the water!

Not really - although the C-tech / Fyfe rig is looking quite affordable as I can carry it back as personal baggage on the plane if i go for a two-piece mast (handy having the monthly business trip to NZ!) - but the latest is I am talking to the guy at our club who is building ply & epoxy F16 cats to see if he might be able to give it a go and end up with something in ply, epoxy and carbon along the lines of King Tubby...
