Just had to mention it, but Frank Bethwhaites book is really good- High Performance sailing, gives lots of technical advice plus a lot of personal experience.

sailing story classics like 'we didn't mean to go to

has anyone read godforsakensea? its about all the round the world racers who have capsized or dissapeared really worrying.

or seachange by charles dickens great grandson as he sold the house etc to do a clipper race?

Fastnet, Force 10 is good, so too is 'Total Loss'    - Fatal storm, was also good.

Pete Goss- His account of the famous rescue and race was a  great read.

One book I was a little disappointed in was the one about the lady sailing across the Atlantic at 89  or so years of age. Certainly a change form the high powerd' racing in the southern ocean, type books.

To the Baltice and back with Bob, that was a nice easy read, plenty of  humour

Ellens book was very inspiring.

everyone should own a copy of High performance sailing by frank bethwaite. Its big and scary but fascinating if you get to grips with it. Just dont drop it on your foot.
