Funny how the price goes up with competitive builders, even when the product is supposed to be identical. I guessing that like Oppies, Finns and the like buyers will pay a premium for the supposedly faster boats rather than anything being price driven. This for boats with a plaque, of course.

Disagree. ILCA have become blinkered arrogant bullies. The great unwashed will vote with their limited wallets

How is introducing competitive builders and choice for sailors bullying? Its a requirement of the 5 ringed circus that they are FRAND compliant meaning the monopoly supply that LPE had in the US and Europe needed to end.

You say that but many people are still totally ignorant of the current mess. I don't think most people would knowingly do it though.

Yes, that's true, but I'd expect most sailors keen enough to enter SailJuice series events would be aware of the situation with ILCA and LPE. Bound to be some who don't though, and the odd one simply trying it on...

I think it will be hard for them to find grounds to refuse given theft they are Lasers. LPE are contravening no laws, IP rights, trade marks or patents by building and selling the boats.

You can enter as an Laser but not an ILCA. Once has a recognised international CA and class rules one doesn't.....

No reason to stop them entering but distinguishing would be needed even if they lumped the 2 together for the purposed of  'fleet' results.

And if they did, then it’s logical to assume the one sold to squaddies and travellers would perform better, therefore have a lower PN than the grunt boat for weekend warriors... so you get a better handicap with a Rastegar boat? Grumpf will have a field day....
