But a nice 2 bed cottage is what a young couple ought to be able to buy as their first house...

Since racing is a sport, it falls under the regulations of sport activity perfromance in a given port where you are leaving from.

But, it doesn't mean I can't have a different view. I think sport and outdoors activity should be top priority. The biggest actionable risk factors are vitamin D and your weight / fitness. Not much one can do about age, underlying health conditions, sex or ethnicity. If people can get active and pump some money in to the economy then that, for me, outweighs the risks of transmission (which are present everywhere). I feel events like these should be prioritised over meal deals and relaxing of the 2m rule to fit more people in boozers.

And now HISC have cancelled all opens through to the end of October. Entirely understandable.

I don't run HISC.

HISC have had to reduce house staff quite a bit. We missed the peak summer season when they make a profit, and now the club seems to be struggling to bring it back and the clubs finances can't handle the risk of a loss making open event. I believe that's a big issue, but I'm not on the committee, so don't fully know.

The whole situation is a mess. I think the nation has utterly failed the vulnerable, whilst meanwhile crippling parts of the economy that should have been up and running at full steam long ago. But that's what you get with a load of 60 something tut-tutters running the show.

800s look lie they'll happen at WPNSA. That place is looking like a good investment by the RYA / Sport England now. It's almost single handed saving the 2020 nationals season.

On a positive note, our club racing has been great. Best turnouts for ages. So it's not all bad. Open events can wait, I just don;t believe that they 'have' to wait.

Are you putting yourself forward for the committee?

By 'show' I mean running the country. The country has been far to slow to open up aspects of life which are good for our health.

All the people whinging about the risks of sailing at the start. The delay in getting club racing up and going when clearly boats on the water don't gather in any way that increases transmission risk.

If the club could have got firing on all cylinders in May then more open events would be viable in the autumn.

Hindsight is a great thing.

On the scale of things I don’t think that dinghy championships will have been at the forefront of the government’s consciousness this summer ... though little would surprise me
