I know it’s a different sport in a different country, but to me this highlights things are very far from “back to normal” in the minds of many people.

If the necessary precautions mean it ceases to be fun, numbers may not be high enough to be viable.  No bar, no changing room, face masks at the galley, trouble finding accommodation - is that worth the entry? That’s a personal choice but it’s certainly less appealing than a normal year. Coupled with difficulty getting volunteers, a loss of a precious weekend’s sailing for host club members and no bar profits and it is quite reasonable to cancel the event.

well at least the rellies could use the solo as a coffin.... send you out viking style.  (masks mandatory for well wishers)

Its why they have a flat front end  LOL

Had better order a Gosling as my final boat or my carbon footprint might be unacceptable

I am on holiday in Wales at the moment, no issues at all, no bad feeling from the locals, just a shock at how many pubs and small shops appear to be gone for good.

I think there is an element of personal choice in this given the way the virus seems to have different consequences for different groups of folk. I'm older and relatively at risk, and hence I'm way more cautious than if I was 30 years younger and with a clear medical history. I'll continue to shield until there's a vaccine, so I'm unlikely to want to attend or run events but if the clubs and classes can get volunteers and competitors together from less at risk groups why not as long as they follow the appropriate guidance.

Our Nationals on 11th to 13th September are still on at RTYC but it is subject to them lining up volunteers for the various roles which I think they have done very kindly using family groups. Our club got back to organised racing a few weekends ago. Went camping for two weeks in Cornwall at end of July and had a great time, locals were delighted to see us! Great to see things return to normal

Has anyone tried to book accommodation in Conrwall this year - it seems to be fully booked including camping. Might be part of the reason.
