I wonder how many Class Associations will be triggered by this change to review exactly how much return they get from attendance. And consider that their money may be better spent in a totally different way and place?.

The days of collecting subs, discussing matters at the show etc etc are long gone

Not a lot  the RYA can do about that lol. Blame dr beaching and every government since and a lack of joined up thinking. My daughter went to a concert on a Saturday  in Manchester a few weeks ago.
Went up there no probs ( we are on the main line) . Guess what time the last train back to Birmingham or Coventry was , 9.30 pm !!! Our train network is a joke .  Smile

Yes but if you live south of Farnborough you going to drive, London people might get the train. The North are going to have multiple changes, doesn’t make it very enjoyable with kids and you have been up since silly o’clock.

It is easily accessible by train -there are four stations within 10 minutes.  The Farnborough airshow is huge in comparison to the dinghy show, getting there really isn’t a problem for the bulk of the country, and anywhere else will still be difficult for someone.  And you can always charter a plane straight there :)

Only if you’re going on your own.  As much as the drive round the north circular is a PITA (especially on League Cup final day...), it is far cheaper to drive than take the train if you go as a family.

I do understand it will make a difference if you are travelling by train. But let’s be honest the vast majority of people visited ally pally by car .

Based on the busyness of the shuttle bus I would say train is the predominant mode of transport

Would be very interested to know how many of those people using the shuttle bus are from outside London and have used the train to get to London .I suspect very few .
