“How do you get to Farnborough?”
“Well you don’t want to start from here” |

Bring back the ( old fashioned) coach to the show !
Great memories of the banter during the drive and options to have a beer or two before being collected at the end of the day. And perhaps encourage some that wouldn't otherwise have gone when the last few free seats need to be filled. Edited by ian.r.mcdonald - 07 Mar 20 at 9:47am |

I live in Coventry as central as you get in the midlands and England too for that matter . Farnborough is slightly further distance wise but the difference in travelling time is bugger all. It just means a trip down the m40 instead of the m1. The show moving is not going to make any difference to me and most people in the midlands.
I do understand it will make a difference if you are travelling by train. But let’s be honest the vast majority of people visited ally pally by car . |

Based on the busyness of the shuttle bus I would say train is the predominant mode of transport

Just tried Google Maps directions to Alexandra Palace and the Farnborough Exhibition site by road from Shustoke Sailing Club (East of Birmingham - North West of Coventry), came out as 2 hours 7 minutes for both

As I said if your coming from the north or the West Midlands it’s going to make no difference to your car journey.

Would be very interested to know how many of those people using the shuttle bus are from outside London and have used the train to get to London .I suspect very few . |

Again from personal experience I will disagree, if you’re close to the East or West coast mainline and the drive is more than two hours the train always trumps the car especially the deals you get buying early.

Only if you’re going on your own. As much as the drive round the north circular is a PITA (especially on League Cup final day...), it is far cheaper to drive than take the train if you go as a family.
