Seriously? Who in their right mind would volunteer to serve an organisation that requires several waiver and confidentiality documents signed. You couldn't write it, never mind make it up. Corporate jobsworth world gone mad.

Sorry, nothing personal please believe me, but what on earth is 'lovely' about the venue? its in a horrendous traffic jammed location with exorbitant parking and the prospect of hours of driving or trains to get to for everyone outside of the M25? Even if the weather wasn't causing a host of problems its long overdue a move to pretty much anywhere other than the outer-hebrides or Norwich, which I will concede, are harder to reach, marginally.

The venue is lovely i.e Ally Pally as a building. As I said, the location and travel is not. Re-read my post 😉 We both agree on the crap location and travel issues.

I am sure a better location could be found but it's all about cost, as it's a very Corinthian event - tho getting more and more Not Corinthian (for want of a better phrase)

NEC would be great but costs would outweigh the audience.

......location with exorbitant parking...

So what do you think they could/should charge for parking then ?   Would it help if say it was only a fiver for the day maybe ?  Would you like to even see free parking made available and perhaps included in the regular ticket price ?   Your views on this issue I can almost guarantee would be most interesting to hear......

Parking is free, n'est pas ???

"Parking:

Parking onsite is free and there are 1000 spaces , however, due to the popularity of the show, parking areas can become full at peak times so if you are travelling by car arrive early and follow the guidance of the onsite attendants who will direct you to alternative parking when necessary. "

Off the RYA website:

"Having carefully weighed up all the factors, we have decided that the Show will go ahead. This has been a difficult decision, due to lots of conflicting evidence, advice and opinions.

The forecast appears to be improving and a substantial number of exhibitors want the Show to go ahead.

Alexandra Palace is open and build up is underway and the surrounding area is largely clear.

If it is not safe for you to travel, then please do not attempt to do so.

If you have bought an advanced ticket for the show you will be able to attend on either Saturday or Sunday."

At least that clears up the ambiguity in the ticket company's e-mail for me so we'll be using our Saturday tickets on Sunday.

Europe AUS53 & FF 3615
National 12 3344, Europe 397 and Mirror 53962 all gone with regret

Got there at 2pm, checked in with the organisers, noted that there are now even more keelboats in the hall (the new RS boat does look interesting but one has to question what the Dragon and J boats are supposed to be there for). The National 12s are not alone in not making it - some trade stands have  pulled but one can see that if they're going to struggle to get there, only for a reduced footfall, well, they have some sympathy. At that point a look out of the window showed near blizzard like conditions and thinking about going down the big hill to get out, then heading back up Muswell Hill to get towards the hotel...... I bailed pronto. The snow has eased but the North Circular was no fun and that was at 3pm. By all accounts it nearly didn't happen - the events of the next two days will show if hanging in there was a good more or a shot in the left foot.
