I'd disagree - as the OK fills that slot nicely too. Classy to sail with the new carbon rigs and modern FRP hulls - a bit like a Finn but without the grunt on and off the water and the advantage of good overseas fleets to go and visit. The cockpit looks small but it's deep and easily big enough for those of us taller and heavier than most. I'm 6'2" and +100kgs tbh but seem to go fine in all conditions and the boat fits me like a glove.
I know it's a blatant class plug but they are honestly so under-rated

You are correct - I forgot the OK despite recently having one !

That ain't good Rich, how did you forget such a great looking boat like that??

Shame they're so slow  Wink, should have done better here but I guess the Laser killed it off? I might have to get one once I've got rid of the Finn...but then I'm slightly heavier than 100kgs, well considerably.
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

Laugh away Maxibubba (as I would probably have done before I tried one a couple of years ago), but if the OK is so slow I guess that makes the Finn which is 5% faster on PY, well slow as well :-)
Yes the laser did kill lots of classes off but there's a bit of a resurgence works wide with good fleets in Australia, NZ and massive growth again in Europe.
Yep it's that old thing of a nice boat, being modernised and giving close very racing with a good crowd.
Apart from that at half the weight of a Finn they're quicker up the slipway :-)

BTW I've had seven or eight Finns in my time so I'm not just Finn bashing

IGRF but where's the fun in a una rig with shrouds? Being able to sail by the lee is half the joy- after Ali you don't see windsurfers with shrouds?

Us windsurfers found a way round that if the boat has an adjustable forestay, you just let it go and dump the kicker, which I'm fairly sure I noted was the case with the H2.

Let the forestay off - as in raking the rig back on a run? Not normally seen as a quick move in any boat unless its howling. Tip forward is good so if anything you should pull the forestay on.

If letting the forestay off makes the mast rake back on a run then I want some new laws of physics!

Depends how windy it is Jim. It shouldn't make any difference if the breeze is enough to make the shrouds tight but I think iGRF is saying to get the boom out without adjusting the shrouds he lets the forestay off - that implies the rig raking back to slacken the shrouds. No new laws needed
