Hi Ratface

apologies, hadn't fully understood your need for extra weight.

Apparently weights can be fitted to boats... there's a retaining-bar in the cockpit for them.  Might be worth posting in the 5000  forum - someone might have a few weights kicking around.

If you're getting  bars  made elsewhere (P&B!)- would be great to see the final  thing.... there's definite interest in the class.

By the way,  some laser5000s are congregating soon for racing:

Feb 2nd Tiger Trophy
Rutland SC

(Not  dead yet !!!)

you'd be welcome. (I don't  think I will be making it myself  unfortunately).

All the  best,

  fin.

Hi Ratface

on the laser5000 forum, this  topic was just raised in December 2007.You'll find  information here on how to construct  racks;

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/5000classassociation/message/5 64

If you've other  5000 boat related issues,  questions etc; by all means feel free to post on the  classs forum.  Generally a  helpfull bunch.

40kg of lead ...  this  sounds extreme and unnecessary.  The  class website have the charts for working out the  rack settings  you need to use. Not sure what size/shape/length you and your crew are, but it'd be worth calculating and setting racks correctly if going to race.  if set real far out - baby-racks would be  handy.

Cheers

  fin.

It's cheating. It's against the rules. Don't even joke about it....

I will go chasing after him, it's a one design! I expect to see 40 kilos of lead in your boat at the BM Barton !

Fella,
The 5000 class is dead! Why worry yourself. Find your self some netting and use that! Much lighter and cheaper and easier to replace etc
Cheers,
Alex
