There has on the cvrda Facebook page, as you can imagine! Beautiful boat.
H2 looked great too, in a different way. Good to speak to the builders of both boats. |

That Solo class chairman came over to the Solution stand, dunno if he was looking for firelogs, we'd run out by then, but he was probably gutted that other old tub won, when I first saw it I did consider stopping and offering them a firelog, but they didn't look the sort who'd post on here so would have probably thought I was as mental as I believe them to be.
Total waste of space old wrecks covered in varnish. Edited by iGRF - 06 Mar 17 at 6:42pm |

Tom, the Flying 10 was indeed a beautiful boat - from a distance. Very eyecatching. And what a fantastic story! But are these criteria particularly relevant to judging a Concours d'Elegance? "Sarah Treseder commented on the boat, "The huge attention to detail was staggering. We couldn't believe the boat had actually been sailed and thought surely something this pristine hasn't been on the water. For me it was the meticulous detail, the beautiful grain of the wood, and the thought that had gone into every single millimetre, including the bits that people don't see like the way the keel bolts are all beautifully lined up"". (By the way, it's good to see that you go by your own name in this arena, unlike many others). Edited by Keith_Callaghan - 07 Mar 17 at 1:57pm |

Keith, are you for real?
Why can't you be happy for the winner? Rather than just nitpicking. I have seen an H2 in the flesh and whilst a nicely put together boat alright, especially since it is at least nominally a production boat, I could pick some holes in that too if I wanted to get all adenoidal. I wasn't there, and I am not sure of the exact basis of concours d'elegance judgement, but perhaps uniqueness, ambition, originality, ingenuity, back story etc are as valued (rightly in my opinion) as finish quality. Else I could buy something shelled out by one of RS subcontractors and spend a week on it with a polisher and win by rights. Which would be wrong. Mick Jagger has a sh*t voice by anyones standards but I would rather listen to the stones or go for a pint with him than any winner of the X factor, capice? |
