For those who attended the Dinghy Show, how was it for you/ your class/ company? I thought it was pretty good, all stands talking of a very busy Saturday. Certainly we on the Osprey class assn stand had loads of visitors and interest, with people wanting a good look at our Mark V Osprey.
Quieter on Sunday as usual, but that means a great chance to look around the Show. Hope it stays at Alexandra Palace.

Ha ha, hello Duncan. Just been looking at pics from MWYC. Drove past yesterday morning on a tip run. Rock and roll. Saw the sails out. Oh to be 12 and back at WSC again!

Hi Chris no need of a target with me. If I had wanted to get rid of you I would have done it when you were twelve when we sailed at warwick I think you do a great job with the yardsticks, its just Elaine and I are going to the show and wondered if you were. Duncan.

Yes 'tis me. I don't know anything otherwise I wouldn't have asked. Being a midlander I'd love it to be nearer.

Why so defensive? All I asked was if you know where its going to be why not just tell us rather than dropping hints.

Not sure why you suggest that the PYAG think they know everything. What gives you that impression. We're unpaid volunteers. All we seem to know is numbers numbers and some more numbers at this time of year! Oh and a few more numbers added in for good measure.

Thanks for reminding me of why I don't come here anymore though.

Mothlee, should I offer to go with a target painted on my back? Unfortunately though I don't think I can make it this year, which if it is to be the last time at Ally Pally will be a shame as an end of an era. First I'd heard of it was when I looked in here at lunchtime.

White House Press Corps? Don't jest, the situation isn't funny!
In a way, the situation is not so dissimilar as you might think. On this site, plus the Facebook page that often addresses some of the more interesting issues you can get some insightful comments. But investigative journalism, that's a rare commodity these days. What you can say and about whom is very strictly controlled. The power of the advertising budget holds the media in a very tight check - and that includes our organising authority....who just happen to be a big advertiser.

So you can't say many of the things that need to be said, even if you know about them. This has links over to the other current thread on the direction towards the future that the sport may be taking. I know I've mentioned before about my talk on 'The Slow Death of Fast Dinghy Sailing' - a talk I dedicate to the great Jack Knights. That really does lift the lid on some of the fundamental issues, but it doesn't get you any thanks for saying them! If Jack Knights were still with us (Bob the Fish still is!) then he would, I'm sure, be speaking out with his highly observant comments that quite often ripped egos to shreds and put various personalities right under the spotlight. Except that he wouldn't be, because I doubt that any of the media outlets would risk carrying his articles.
I'd love to do more and with me thinking of retiring in the not too distant future, maybe once I no longer care a damn will do so.......

White House Press Corps.... West Wing?  Sorry, too subtle for me Dougal....  If not the Camping and Caravan Show, maybe the Soton Boat Show.

Ahh, O2 arena... with docklands sailing, nice ;-)

TT...left some unsubtle hints earlier......................
And as for you ChrisG, you don't find Tom Gruitt questioning my journalistic 'ear to the ground' .

But hey, aren't you the guy from the PYAG? I thought that they knew everything or do they only act that way?
