I get my 'kicks' as you call it out of promoting a response, any kind of response from people I regard as shy, retiring, quiet, meek, unprepossessing, dinghy sailors essentially, they never say much, pad about with beer mats sewn to their butts, have very little to say for themselves, get on with their lives, live, die even, with little remark.
Now trying to get a peep out of them is like wringing blood out of a stone, so it's tough, but I somehow manage.

Now you've blundered in, did you do any research first before insulting me? I doubt it, not that I mind, but I did at least take the trouble to find out what makes you tick before responding, quite why you're upset i don't know, insulting Birmingham and Liverpool? I'd do that to your face, there might be a twinkle in my eye and a wry grin, because it's meant in jest, but you wouldn't get that, it's the wood dust, woodbotherers tend not to 'get' a 'dry' sense of humour, something about all that saw dust clouding their vision.

Then again, could be you're trying a bit of trolling for yourself and my my I'm such an easy target, but welcome to the forum anyway you'll find lots of allies here, they love to have a pop, but only once they have someone else's skirts to hide in.

And you've responded at least, so I'm happy for that, this place needs more, if there were enough, I could shut up and just read away or stay on Facebook where most of the humorous types have gone.

Back to answering the original post. I go to look at dinghy developments and just for the spectacle. We are taking our sailing crazy daughters (11 yr old) and think they will find the whole thing an eye opener.

With regard location near a mainline station important, we are day tripping from the glorious North on the Saturday so can be back for sailing on Sunday. I first went when it was at Pickets Lock which I think is Lee Valley now, not sure if that would allow some waterborne action.

I don't see iGRF [sorry to be talking about you not to you lol] is just the type who like's to provoke a rise out of people. Mostly (I hope) it's banter in jest, but not the sort of thing everyone likes - but I can think of people with initials e.g. DT who are more hell-bent and capable of imposing views and hatreds than some random guy on a forum about sailing! And no, he's not the kinda person I think I'd like to socialise with either, but ".... he only does it to annoy, because he knows it teases"  Wink
Mind you, starting a thread with "before .... GRF rant about it" is probably like a hand-written invitation to him  LOL

I've enjoyed the spectacle too. I guess it'll always be near a population centre - just makes sense - but it can still be a pricey 'day out', especially for a family. Even travelling from somewhere like Hull can add up to a sizeable cost just to have a look and catch up.
Hope you all enjoy it though, tink, the sport needs the young people to be enthused and gripped by it!

Stoneleigh.  No way. If it was there I would never go again and I only live 2 miles away.

It's not a bad venue imho... that close it'd be rude not to go (before sneaking back to Leamington for a decent night out)

It would need to have a train station... Not everyone drives, or wants to drive.

Several options for service buses from Coventry, Warwick Parkway and even Birmingham Airport.... I can even provide the name of a local firm if anyone interested is interested.

I'm fairly sure that's exactly what they do for some of the classic and kit car shows run there in the spring and summer....  it's a similar demographic really.

Are you still talking Stoneleigh? Better be quick as HS2 is about to carve its way right through the middle of the showground!
