Didn't expect the dinner and social for the Tiger to be the weekend before the actual sailing event
![]() Looks like all the descriptions (which are for the 2015 events) on the site need to be updated to reflect the 2016 dates. Edited by craiggo - 05 Oct 15 at 10:20pm |

Record advance entry for this weekend's Fernhurst Books Draycote Dash, GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series Round 1. Currently standing at 99 boats (previous best 70), with online entry closing tonight at discounted fee. The Dash has a Max entry of 130 boats, so if not already entered and you intend to race important to Enter NOW. Looking at the latest stats, 39 classes represented, with D-Zeros topping the charts at 9 boats, followed by Lasers (8 boats). Encouragingly several double handers showing a strong presence, with Scorpions at 6, RS800 (5), GP14s (4) and RS400 (4). Surprisingly no Aeros currently entered 15 classes are fielding 3 or more boats, which will put them in a strong position for the New Top Class Award, based on best three results across the Series. Post Racing on Saturday, a Q&A session with Nick Craig, current title holder for the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series and multiple class champion - chance to learn from the Master himself.

The D-Zero class claims 2 firsts for the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series.
First class to achieve a double digit entry for an individual event (10 for this weekends Draycote Dash) and first class to achieve 15 entries across the series to qualify for fleet prizes. For more click here.

Hopefully be lots of Musto's at Datchet Flyer at least as its now been designated our Inlands after they had to cancel the Ovington Inlands at Grafham last week.

Just heard that SailJuice have opened several events to include multihulls - is it just me or is that just a recipe for disaster mixing big fast cats with vastly slower dinghies. The iMoths are bad enough as they scream through upwind at mind-boggling speeds, but the cats are just so much bigger my concern is the inability to maneuver in a tight situation on these venues.
Maybe I'm just over concerned but wondering who might be thinking the same - I'm doing Datchet Flyer and when I did it last with the B14 it was hectic to say the least (especially being rammed from behind by a young 29er team who then proceeded to not understand the basic rules of mark rounding)...chuck in these bigger cats and I just wonder if some "cat"astrophe (cue groans for the pun) is just bound to happen.

Multihulls have competed at Grafham GP for many years.

Correct and a badly sailed Hobie 16 was causing havoc on the B course this year.

Badly sailed anythings have the potential to cause trouble. Don't think there's anything special about multihulls. When I was doing the big winter events both Grafham and Pompey had multihulls and I never recall any issues at all. I'd have a few more doubts if it were kite surfers I must admit.
