I tell you what, that Worthing Sailing Club is nice, they've done really well and they have a really genned up Commodore almost as sharp as the one we have. ;-)

If your club is affiliated to the RYA get in touch with them - that's why they are there. They can assist with legal advice, club leases, put a 'stamp of approval' with the council and generally point you in the right direction...

That's a joke right? That might have been the case back in the day, but not these days, sorry not interested, didn't help us, were no help to worthing either, you're dreaming if you still think the RYA is fit for purpose.

I can only speak for my club, RYA have been a tremendous help to us over the years, grants, helping with grants from other organisations, etc.

+1. My club has raised a huge amount of money in recent years, partly from grants, and the RYA were very helpful. The other side of that is the grant bodies tend to want a view of a clubs application for funding from the relevant sports governing body, in our sports case that's the RYA like it or not. Bottom line is poor relationship with the RYA = little chance of big money grant applications being successful

Well we contacted them three weeks ago now, so maybe they'll be coming back to us later this year, who knows, but in the meanwhile we won't be holding our breath. The only time you hear from them is when they want something, which I now tend to ignore like this latest census document they keep resending.

If I was an RYA RDO I'd be inclined to spend my time and efforts helping those clubs that value and appreciate my work. Many clubs/few RDO's mean you're competing for their time and effort, and with the greatest of respect with the attitude you seem to have I'm not surprised you haven't got very far !
