Nick Cottle brought his Vagabond down to Wraysbury for the Holt centennial. His girlfirend was not impressed as it rained hard all the way down from Yorkshire and Nick had put the sails in the car and the camping gear in the boat.
We spent some time drying out sleepingbags and tents for Magda and the children.
Nice one Nick get the priorities right, keep the sails dry Big smile.

Pretty little boat very well restored.

Yes, I remember a friend's Dad had one back in the 50s. Always likes the distinctively orange/tan sail.

There's a HIT at my club..... Never seen it on the water or even with the cover off. Not sure that
it's even moved in the 5 years I've been there.
Beige colour, number 5 I think.

Mags, The Vagabond - one of Jack Holt's later designs. The size and layout were all carefully worked at so as to make the optimum use of 8.4 sheets of ply. The original commission for the boat was French.

For the Holt Centenary in 2012 one owner rebuilt a Vagabond and made a very nice job of the restoration. Sadly though, the UK market in this area of boat size was already very crowded - Proctor's Gull, Holt's Heron, the Mirror....Mermaids and many more. The other big hit against the Vagabond was the end of the home build era....though, if my memory still serves me well, the plans for the vagabond still exist!

Now ebay has something else I've not seen before.

A 'pointy Mirror', the seller says.

I've had an even better bargain now - several free sails. These are even less well-known than the Sea Bat though.

First one is a Vitress I am told. But the bird insignia is even confounding the CVRDA! Nobody can remember the name.

One of our cvrda members has a seabat, I think there is a blog on how he restored it and sails it. And of course I have a ToY, though I haven't sailed it yet. Embarrassed
